The project begins with a case study of an international food company, completed a few years ago. The authors looked at problems the company was having with revenue growth, marketing, and other things. You will need to READ the case study, and then you will write a paper in which you make recommendations to the company for developing new strategies for improving its bottom line.
You have to READ and ANALYSE the case study, and you will represent management consultant for a fast-food company, McDonald’s, that has seen lagging revenues in recent years. You will be given a case study of the company’s situation, which will include a brief history of the company, the menu items which have proven successful as well as those that have flopped, and the charts showing countries where the company has opened new restaurants. The case study also provides some discussion of possible changes the company could consider in its quest to turn things around. Finally, the case study will provide revenue figures for the company from recent years.
Some things to consider are:
1. The most significant threats to the company in the near future.
2. Specific changes the company should enact.
3. Things the company should not change.
4. Issues not covered in the case study which, nevertheless, need to be considered by the company.
Requirement:
Your assignment is to recommend a proposed strategy for McDonald’s to improve its bottom line in the near future. You must, specifically, make recommendations to the company involving changes it needs to make. These could involve expansion (or contraction) domestically and/or globally; menu changes; marketing changes; pricing; issues touching on social responsibility; image changes; or other things that you believe will improve the company’s prospects for improving sales, profits and future growth.
You must also include a broader discussion of strategic management in which you explain how struggling companies devise strategies to recover their difficulties. For this you should use books, journal articles and other credible sources which address strategic management. You can include tables, charts, illustrations to support your strategies proposed. Your proposed strategies proposed must involve critical thinking and in-depth research.
The main body of work:-
a) Discuss performance (must be supported by figures and charts) and identify the strategies you are recommending;
Discuss your strategies and the theories and models you are using to make your argument.
b) Identify the main points drawn from the literature, on issues of strategic management, which support your recommendations.
c) List your specific recommendations for the future.
