1) Read “Introduction to Orientalism, Edward Said” (Only from page 1-36)
2) Outline the definition of Orientalism in your own words being sure to differentiate between the content of Orientalism (for example stereotypes and representations) and the “material effect” of Orientalism.
3) Discuss why you think understanding Orientalism matters to Said and why it matters to you.
4) Provide an alternative to an Orientalist depiction that you may have noticed in your own experience.
