Overall Task
Question 1. Apply the EFQM Business Excellence model, using relevant theory, to one organisation of
your choice in the food industry. Draw on your analysis to identify and capture strengths and areas for
improvement to the chosen organisation (45%):
a) Engaging Stakeholders
Discuss how the sustainable relationships with partners & suppliers build within the company.
b) Creating Sustainable Value
Critically evaluate the key processes required to deliver the value.
c) Driving Performance & Transformation
Analyse how the company develops new product and evaluate whether the company utilises technology.
Ensure that you also refer to the advantages and disadvantages of the EFQM model.
Question 2. Based on your analysis, offer, and justify one operations OR supply chain management
strategy that the chosen organisation could pursue to drive business excellence. In this case, I want you
to choose the Lean Supply Chain Management Strategy, but explain why you chose it and how is it
suitable for this report. You should then provide recommendations, based on the application of the
RADAR framework (45%) – Please read attached EFQM pdf for more info on the RADAR framework.
Marks will be awarded for structure, presentation, and quality of references (10%).
How to develop your strategy in Q2
You should use the RADAR elements to help you address question 2. This may also influence the key
points raised in your executive summary.
On the practical application of theory:
You will need to briefly introduce your chosen organisation to familiarise the reader with the appropriate
context. There are no marks for detailed background to the company, therefore please do not spend your
word count on that. You are being assessed on your reflections, interpretation, and application of theory
in practice and analytical reasoning using accepted academic practice and literature.
Guidance notes
An essential feature of the report is to illustrate how theoretical constructs or models can be critically
analysed and applied to organisations in practice.
You are advised to read widely. In fact, please make sure you include at least 16+ academic
references.
This component is an academic assignment and should be written in an appropriate style (e.g. using 3rd
person).
You are required to present your report using a clear coherent structure. The format must include an
introduction (~200 words), question 1 (~800 words), question 2 (~800 words), conclusion (~200
words), full reference list, and any appropriate appendices. You may use headings and
subheadings. No new information should be mentioned in the conclusion and recommendations
section, and it should come as a direct wrap up of things already discussed in detail inside the
body of the report.
The following font style, line spacing and page layout should be used:

• Layout orientation: Portrait
You are required to use the APA referencing style 7th edition (attached).
You are only allowed to use academic sources, from academic journals as references for this paper, as
well as any material you find in the company website of the firm you select to focus on, and, finally,
reputable newspaper articles (eg BBC, NYT, FT, etc on that level only). No wikipedia or other kind of
internet sources should be used.
Your word limit for this assignment is 2000 words (+/- 10%) and a word count should be provided on the
front cover of your report.
