Q. Examine one education policy or program that has been introduced in a given country. It must be examined in relation to the broader, global education policy context. You are expected to draw upon the conceptual tools presented by the readings to make sense of why the program/policy has been introduced and what likely consequences it might generate. Guiding questions · Where does the policy/program come from? What is the global education policy context out of which the given policy/program has emerged? What is the national education policy context that has led to the introduction of the policy/program? · What has motivated the national (or subnational) government to adopt the program/policy? How does the government justify the introduction of the program/policy? What alternative interpretation might be possible? · What are the likely consequences of the program/policy? You must refer to 1) relevant national policy documents, 2) relevant international policy documents (OECD, World Bank, EFA, UNESCO etc), 3) research studies relevant to your chosen program/policy and 4) at least 5 readings covered in the unit.
