Three of the main models proposed for the role of discourse aspects in SLA are Stephen Krashen’s Comprehensible Input Hypothesis (CI), Michael Long’s Interaction Hypothesis (IH), and Merrill Swain’s Comprehensible Output Hypothesis (CO). Briefly illustrate the basic premises (assumptions) of these three hypotheses/models. Next, illustrate the main pedagogical implications associated with each hypothesis.
