Topic: Bioremediation
Cover page should have the following items: title, course name, the date, the instructor’s name and your name. The title should be two inches from the top of the page, bold, centered and the letters uppercased. The course title should be six inches from the main topic centered. All the rest should be centered and three inches between each one. Please state the objective or purpose of this research paper. The objective or purpose should be precise and clear. How the paper should be formatted:
● The entire document should be singled –spaced using 12 point Time New Romans font
● The left and right margins should be 1”.
● All figures and tables should be placed at the end of the document after the reference section. Refer to the
tables and/or figures in numerical order throughout the text. Ex., table 2, Table 2….etc.
● Include description of all tables and legends with the figure or table at the end of the document.
● The research should be 2,500-words in length (not including references). Points will be deducted if
you submit your paper under the word limit.
● The headings and sections should be on one line and bold. The subheadings (if any) should be bold and italicized.
● The paper has be submitted in Canvas as turnitin. You are allowed under 15% for plagiarism. If your paper is over 15%, you will be penalized and you will be in violation of plagiarism which is an offense in CAU Student Code under plagiarism. You will be reported to Dr. Hemmitt’s office for this violation.
The paper should include the following:
Introduction: Describe your topic, tell where it was found and its route (s) of exposure, the chemical structure if any, should be not be placed here but at the end (See#3). Tell the how it affect the environment or humans. Give the risk assessment of the active component of the toxin or pollutant. Tell what governing agency regulates your toxin or pollutant. Give the Environmental Protection Agency or Centers for Disease control standard guideline that is how much humans or animals are exposed to a toxin or pollutant to show any health problems (LD50 or IC50).
Adverse Health
You should describe adverse health effect in humans or other animals (for example rats, marine life, fish phytoplankton, etc). Tell how long the pollutant or toxin is degraded or how long the active component persistence in the environment or the body. Tell exposure toxicity of your pollutant or toxin that is, chronic or acute. If so, what are the values for chronic or acute toxicity exposure?
Biological Activity:
In this section, you should discuss any in vitro and in vivo (animal) laboratory studies conducted on your pollutant or
toxin. Tell how the body breakdown of the toxin or pollutant and dispose it. Is there an antidote to counteract the action of the toxin or pollutant? If not, is there a basic understanding of how it may work? Specifically, tell whether the pollutant or toxin endocrine disruptor or immune disruptor or change cellular function? What cellular processes are affected?
Clinical Studies:
Have any clinical studies been conducted? (Specifically, what studies have included test on human subjects?) If so, what were the findings and recommendations? What are the symptoms/benefits of the toxin or pollutant? What was the concentration level the animals were exposed to in the studies?
Discussion:
Summarize your findings. How does this all piece together? Explain why this particular toxin or pollutant has been important to human health and what role do you think it will play in the future of human health.
References cited:
Use the APA 6t h style for reference citations. The paper is to be a thorough review of the scientific literature concerning your toxin or pollutant and should include peer-reviewed journal articles and scientific texts/books. Tables:
Give your table a description and title. Tables will be placed at the end of the manuscript. Do not embed them in the main text. Do not cut and paste an image of a table form another source. Create your own table using the information and cite the source(s) appropriately in the table description.
Figures:
Give your figure a description and title. Tables will be placed at the end of the manuscript. Do not embed them in the main text.
