Hi NAC students,
Thank you to everyone that was able to attend the NAC take home exam preparation session and subject revision. The session recording along with the presentation have now been uploaded into the Drop-in session module on your LMS. Please take a moment to review both recording and presentation and if you have questions related to the structure of the exam (not specifics of each question), please post these into the discussion forum.
Below is a summary of a couple of key points related to your take home exam:
• The exam will be released at 1000 on Monday 15th June and is due for submission using the submission portal on your LMS by 1000 on Thursday 2nd July
• This take home exam is undertaken under examination conditions and as such there is no extension available, however it is subject to special consideration. I encourage you all to familiarise yourself with these guidelines prior to commencing your take home exam
• The take home exam is based on 5 case studies, each case study has several questions all are interrelated and link back to the original synopsis. The basis of these case studies and questions remains on the concepts that were explored across the semester
• Questions will increase in complexity and require you to use your clinical reasoning skills in identifying the most appropriate action/intervention to be implemented
• Your answers must be researched using contemporary literature (no more than 7yrs old) and cited accordingly
• A reference list must be presented along with any additional paperwork that is requested of you to include
• Avoid discussing scientific concepts unless you are expressly asked to do so
• Remember this is a nursing subject, as such please do not propose medical treatment plans. Focus on nursing care and nursing interventions, and linking these to the signs and symptoms presented
• Please use correct medical/nursing terminology making sure to check your grammar and spelling thoroughly prior to submitting
• The use of bullets or dot points is permissible for some question, however as a rule you should be aiming to develop your answers in paragraph format. Please make sure that you read the instructions provided with your take home exam thoroughly before starting as this will guide you as to which questions can be answered in bullet/dot points
• Overall word count is 3000 words excluding references and reference list.

NURS90130 – Nursing Assessment and Care – End of Year Take Home Examination
Due Date: Thursday 2nd July 2020 by 1000 hours
Weight: 40%
Word Limit: 3000 words ± 10% limit (excluding references). Note penalties apply for words in excess or under word the limit.
Submission: Online via Canvas, through the link in this subject.
Assessment Outline: This take-home exam consists of 5 case separate studies. Each one contains questions that you are required to answer.
Introductions and conclusions are NOT required; go directly into answering each question.
Take-home exam must be typed using double spacing and size 11 or 12 font and text left justified.
The assignment must be typed in accordance to the American Psychological Association (APA) style.
All pages must be numbered consecutively from the title page.
The title page should include the Department, University, Course name, Student number, Subject name and Subject code.
Insert your student number and subject code as a footer.
It is important to present your ideas in paragraph form with linked sentences to establish the flow of ideas. There should be no single sentence paragraphs. Use single spacing between paragraphs. Dot point format is to be avoided unless you are told to do so.

Carefully check your grammar / spelling before submitting, also that you have answered the question – written on task.
Penalties: You may lose up to 5% of the total marks for non-compliance with referencing requirements, including in-text citations and Reference List.
You may lose up to 5% of the total marks allocated to the assessment component for errors or inaccuracy in spelling/grammar and sentence construction.
